The NRA position against the proposed ban on “green-tip” bullets is indefensible on its face.  No reasonable argument for Second Amendment freedoms needs to include ammunition whose sole purpose is to defeat police body armor.

The problem the NRA has at this point is that there is absolutely no room for nuance or compromise in any of its publicly stated positions, because that would sacrifice its credibility with its base.  It would diminish its funding, but only to a small extent.  Far worse would be the damage to its ability to whip up “a million postcards” at will, and intimidate any lawmaker who dares try for saner firearms regulation in the US.
