Since about the beginning of this year, I have played Neko Atsume on my phone. It’s a diabetic-coma-inducing sweet game where you accumulate food and toys that are to the liking of a varied group of cats who inhabit the game, and you set them out, and the cats come and visit. Each cat has their particular likes and dislikes, and sooner or later you want to get visits from all 62 of them.
One of the ways the cats repay the effort of putting out their favorite foods and toys and things to climb on, is they bring you “mementos.” Well, last night I got the only memento I was missing. So now I am “finished” this game, if that’s a thing. But I’m keeping it around, because when Pumpkin tweets some bile or phones another war widow, there’s not much that unclenches me like 30 seconds with the kittehz.
I don’t know why, when you finally “finish” a lot of games, they roll the credits and kick you out. Seems silly, not to let you roam around in the world of the game for as long as you want to. The Link series of games would seem to really offer a lot to people who wanted to play that way.
